Sky (www.sky.com) is the UK’s largest satellite TV provider, covering 98% of the UK and supplying over 10 million homes with its TV service. To get Sky TV however, you’ll need a Sky+HD set-top box and a satellite dish installed on the outside of your home. Satellite installation isn’t always possible in listed buildings or flats, so you should check before you sign-up online.

Sky TV channel packs

Sky has two main viewing packs to choose from:

  • Sky Entertainment - This includes all the entertainment, style & culture channels, including Sky1, Sky Atlantic and Sky Living, Dave, Watch, GOLD and Comedy Central
  • Sky customers can choose between the Variety and All Entertainment packs
  • Sky Extra - This gives you everything from entertainment to documentaries and kid's programmes to music channels

TV prices start from just £20.00 a month for the Sky Entertainment, and go up to £25.00 for the Sky Extra.

All the free-to-air channels are also included for every customer, including the BBC and ITV channels, Channel 4, E4, Channel 5 and More4.

Should I sign-up for Sky?

If you’re looking for a good digital TV deal, you should shop around before you sign-up for a new provider. While one provider may offer a cheap deal, it may not necessarily be the right option for you.

Cable TV is available in many areas from Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com), and offers subscribers up to 165 channels.

When you look at all the options, it’s also worth considering whether you might be able to save money by getting your TV, home phone and broadband from the same supplier.

Use the Digitalchoices.co.uk comparison service to decide which option is right for your household.
