Four more Premier League matches will be shown in 3D during April, as Sky brings footy fans closer to the pitch with Europe’s first dedicated 3D channel.
Satellite TV giant Sky (www.sky.co.uk) has confirmed four more Premier League fixtures will be broadcast in 3D at participating pubs and clubs before the end of April.
Sky’s dedicated 3D channel kicked off on 3 April with the Premier League clash between Man United and Chelsea, showing at over 1,000 venues around the UK.
The digital TV provider’s new 3D channel is set to show four more fixtures before the end of the month, including games to be played by all three title challengers - Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal:
Brian Lenz, director of product design and TV product development at Sky, said: “As the title race builds to its dramatic conclusion, football fans nationwide will be able to see all three main challengers live in 3D this month.”
Sky has promised more live 3D games will be announced soon, and the 3D channel will be available in Sky homes later in the year.
“Last Saturday over a hundred thousand people witnessed the ground breaking launch of Sky 3D,” added Lenz. “Many thousands more will experience 3D in pubs over the months ahead, as we build towards our launch to Sky+HD homes.”
Jon Ingram, operations director at Digitalchoices.co.uk, said: “Footy fans looking for a pub in their area showing their team’s latest fixtures in 3D can now use the Sky 3D Pub Finder online. I’m particularly looking forward to the Manchester derby on 17 April - it promises to be an exciting match.”
