Sky treats cricket fans to 3D international match

You’ll be able to watch all the action from the middle of the England vs Bangladesh cricket match game in Sky 3D.

Sky (www.sky.co.uk), Britain’s largest satellite TV provider, has revealed plans to broadcast England’s NatWest Series One-Day international (ODI) against Bangladesh in 3D on 8 July.

Cricket fans in the UK and Ireland will be able to watch the sport in 3D for the first time ever, in over 1,000 pubs and venues with a subscription to Sky’s 3D TV service.

England bowler James Anderson said on Sky Sports News: “It should be great for fans everywhere because it will give people a better angle on what international cricket is like out there in the middle.”

“High-definition was a brilliant development and 3D is even more mind-blowing!” he added. “There won’t be anywhere to hide on the pitch and it will be cool to get an idea of what batsmen see when I run into the wicket.”

Sky’s dedicated 3D TV channel was launched at the beginning of April, and kicked off with the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Sky 3D is expected to be launched for Sky+HD customers later in the year when more homes have purchased the necessary 3D TV sets to watch the channel. The first 3D set went on sale in the UK in April, costing £1,800 from John Lewis.

Jon Ingram, operations director at Digitalchoices.co.uk, said: “Any cricket match between England and Bangladesh promises to be exciting, so it’s great that Sky have decided to show the One-Day international in 3D. It will make watching cricket a completely new experience.”
