If your household has yet to switch to digital, getting the “free” TV service from Virgin Media could save you loads of money. (Updated 29/12/09)
Cable TV provider Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com) offers “free” digital TV as part of a bundled package, similar to deals from Sky (www.sky.com) and telecommunications suppliers TalkTalk and Orange - when you take one service from them, you’ll get something else for “free.”

What is ‘free’ digital TV from Virgin Media?
When you sign up to any Virgin Media home phone package and have a cable phone line installed, you will get Virgin Media’s Size:M digital TV package as a free add-on.
You will get a Virgin Media branded set-top box and you’ll be able to access all the Freeview channels, as well as a few extras, like Virgin Central, that you wouldn’t get with standard Freeview, without having to pay anything extra a month.

Why should I get ‘free’ digital TV from Virgin Media?
If you’re planning on getting a cable phone line installed, then the TV package from Virgin Media comes for free, saving you buying a set-top box and giving you a little more than Freeview.
Virgin Media phone lines use cable technology so you don’t have to pay an additional fee for line rental to BT. You can also take Virgin Media’s broadband, which comes with speeds of up to 50Mb, if you are looking to bundle your TV, broadband and phone packages. However, they don’t have the most competitive call costs, so you could end up with more expensive phone bills.
