Sky TV channel “Packs”

Sky customers can choose between six “packs” (groups of similar channels) as a basic deal, and add the movie or sport channels for an extra charge. All the free-to-air channels are also included for every customer, including the BBC and ITV channels, Channel 4, E4, Five and More4. The six basic Sky TV channel packs are:

  • Variety - This includes all the entertainment channels, including Sky 1, 2 and 3, Dave, Watch, GOLD and Comedy Central.
  • Sky customers can choose between six “packs” as a basic deal
  • Knowledge - This covers all the information and documentary channels, such as National Geographic, Discovery and Eden.
  • Style & Culture - These Sky TV channels covers the arts as well as “real life” and lifestyle channels, like Sky Arts and Discovery Home and Health.
  • News & Events - Keep up to date with channels like Sky News, Fox, Sky Sports News and CNBC.
  • Music - Sky offers a good range of music channels, from Magic and MTV Dance to Kerrang and VH1 Classic.
  • Children’s - Keep the kids happy with the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, among others.

If you’re looking for a good digital TV deal, you should shop around, as there’s always more than one option. There are currently some good deals on free-to-view TV, via Freeview (www.freeview.co.uk) or free satellite TV channels, and cable TV is available in many areas from Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com). When you look at all the options, it’s also worth considering whether you might be able to save money by getting your TV, home phone and broadband from the same supplier.
