The new online on-demand TV service SeeSaw has launched today, giving consumers access to over 3,000 hours of catch-up TV from the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
The SeeSaw (www.seesaw.com) website, which offers free, on-demand TV content, has gone live today after less than a month of testing.
The new service offers Brits a chance to catch-up on the last seven days of programmes such as Home and Away, Neighbours and Hollyoaks, as well as broadcasting some archived shows, including the entire first two series of Footballers’ Wives and The Inbetweeners.
John Keeling, the SeeSaw platform controller, said: “What you see today is the tip of the iceberg. Our thirst for great content will further enhance the appeal of SeeSaw to British audiences in the months ahead, ensuring viewers will come back again and again.”
Other archive shows available on the SeeSaw website include Doctor Who, Red Riding, Green Wing, Waterloo Road, and The Apprentice.
Consumers can watch any TV programme on SeeSaw for free, and advertising on the website is minimal.
SeeSaw said it aims to add a further 2,000 hours of programmes by the end of June, but does plan to start charging for some shows.
Pierre-Jean Sebert, the service’s chief executive, added: “We have listened carefully to our beta testers and, over the coming months, will be implementing many of their suggestions and adding a raft of high quality British and international content.”
