The former world champion joins Sky’s dedicated Formula One channel as a pundit.
Former Formula One world champion Damon Hill is to join Sky Sports F1 HD as a pundit to cover the 2012 season.
Hill, who won the championship in 1996, will provide expert analysis for Sky’s soon to be launched dedicated high-definition (HD) Formula One channel.
He will join former Formula One drivers Martin Brundle and Anthony Davidson on the punditry team, working with commentator David Croft and pitlane reporters Ted Kravitz and Natalie Pinkham.
Hill, the only son of a Formula One champion to win the championship himself, with his father Graham claiming the prize twice in the 1960s, will cover 10 of the 20 scheduled grands prix - Australia, Bahrain, Monaco, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, India, USA and Brazil.
Martin Turner, executive producer at Sky, said: "Damon Hill is a British motor racing legend and has incredible Formula One knowledge and insight. He will provide our viewers with not just a driver's eye view, but also that of a world champion. There aren't many around and I'm delighted we'll have Damon with us during the season."
The man himself found the opportunity to get involved in a channel dedicated to Formula One too tempting to turn down: "The plans Sky Sports have for Formula One are very impressive, particularly the dedicated Formula One channel, and I couldn't resist becoming involved. There are so many reasons to be excited about the new season and I can't wait to get started."
Sky Sports F1 HD, which will broadcast every race, qualifying session and practice session from March to November, with the promise that all of the season’s races will be broadcast live and uninterrupted by adverts, is due to launch early in March.
You can get the channel by subscribing to Sky Sports 1 and 2 or Sky’s HD service. Those who already subscribe to Sky Sports or the Sky HD pack will receive the channel at no extra cost. The channel will also be added to Virgin Media’s Sky Sports package.
