Hello Jon, I currently have a basic Virgin Media TV package with a cable phone and broadband service. I want to add Sky Sports for the cheapest possible price. What would you recommend?

Hi Peter, if you’re an avid footie fan or a keen motorsport enthusiast, getting a subscription to Sky Sports will get you your sporting fix.
Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com), the UK’s largest cable TV, phone and broadband supplier, currently has its TV service in over 3.7 million homes around the country. Virgin Media TV packages come in four sizes: M, M+, L and XL. These TV deals can be bundled with a Virgin Media phone line and superfast cable broadband.
Following a ruling from regulator Ofcom earlier this year that forced Sky to cut the wholesale price it charged other providers for its premium sports channels, you can now add the Sky Sports channels to your cable package from just £14.50 extra a month. Take a look at some of the deals below and find the best option for you…
If you’re looking for just a basic sports package, then Virgin Media lets you subscribe to just one of the Sky Sports channels. You can pick from either Sky Sports 1 or Sky Sports 2, and the channel you choose will depend on the sports you want to watch:
Single Sky Sports channels on Virgin Media can be added to your package for just £14.50 extra a month (or £25 a month if you have a Size M TV deal).

For the keener sports fans, you can subscribe to the Sky Sports Collection from just £22.50 a month. As well as Sky Sports 1 and 2, the Sky Sports collection includes Sky Sports 3 and 4. These extra channels show:
If you take the Sky Sports Collection, you’ll be charged £22.50 a month extra (Size M customers will be charged £28 a month).
If you’ve got a HD ready TV, make the most of it by subscribing to the Sky Sports channels in high-definition. You can get your chosen premium channels in HD for £7 extra a month, on top of the Sky Sports channel charge.
So, for example, if you sign-up for just Sky Sports 1, you can get it in HD for £21.50 a month on top of your basic Virgin Media TV subscription.
As well as a HD ready TV, to watch high-definition channels on Virgin Media you’ll need either a V+HD or V HD set-top box.
For Virgin Media multiroom customers, it’s important to note that while the monthly charge for the premium channels will allow you to watch Sky Sports on every set-top box in the house, the HD charge will only let you watch the channels in high-definition on one set-top box.

If you’ve already got a Virgin Media TV package, it’s easy to add the premium Sky Sports channels to your subscription.
Whether you want the high-definition channels, or just standard definition, simply choose the Sky Sports package you want, then call Virgin Media on 0845 840 7777.
Virgin Media will add your chosen channels to your set-top box automatically, and you won’t need to upgrade any of your hardware.
I hope this helps Peter. Be sure to compare Sky Sports prices using our online digital TV comparison service, and then sign-up online or over the phone.
