Customers with Virgin Media will soon be able to watch Channel 4 TV shows like Desperate Housewives, Skins and Shameless in high-definition (HD).
Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com), the UK’s biggest cable provider, has added Channel 4’s high-definition service, 4HD, to its digital TV line-up.
The new channel joins other HD channels Living, MTV and FX and will be available for free for all package customers.
Mark Schweitzer, chief commercial officer at Virgin Media, said: “Our growing HD line-up offers a great choice from some of the best UK and US TV series, documentaries, comedy, sport and music.”
Last month, the cable giant added FX, MTV and National Geographic in HD to its TV platform. These new channels will air from today and are available for free to all XL package customers.
On Tuesday Virgin Media hooked-up with sports channel ESPN in HD, as a replacement for the failed Setanta Sports.
The cable TV giant said it was currently in “active talks” with UKTV about launching a high-definition version of Good Food for its customers.
