Miramax deal to bring award winning films to BT Vision

BT Vision customers will have choice of modern film classics following deal with Miramax.

BT Vision has announced a licensing deal with US movie distribution giant Miramax which will bring its films to BT Vision customers in the UK.

The agreement will give BT Vision Unlimited subscribers instant access to a range of titles from the multi-award winning independent film studio’s back catalogue - great news for BT Vision customers who watch well over two million films on demand every month.

Miramax has an impressive record, boasting a jaw-dropping 284 Academy Award nominations and 68 actual winners speeches - that’s a lot of tears and thanking of various deities - for films such as Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting and The English Patient.

BT Vision subscribers will be able to access the films in a unique Miramax-branded environment, in the BT Vision Film area.

Marc Watson, CEO of BT Vision, said: “The deal will give our customers the chance to see a broad range of Miramax’s independent, ground-breaking and crowd-pleasing films and will further strengthen our position as the UK’s best on demand television provider.”

Mike Lang, CEO of Miramax, added: “We remain laser-focused on finding new ways to make the unmatched mix of Miramax films easily accessible - and for BT Vision subscribers, we have for the first time jointly developed a special Miramax branded environment that will make finding and viewing Miramax films as easy as possible.”

BT Vision customers will get Miramax movies included in the Unlimited option, which also gives unlimited access to on-demand content including Vision Kids, Film Club, Sport and Music.

With this deal BT could consolidate its position as the ”fastest-growing” pay-TV service in the UK.
