Freeview users with either an iPhone or an iPod Touch can now download a free app that lets them view and plan their TV schedule while on the move.
The app from subscription-free TV service Freeview (www.freeview.co.uk) is designed to help people plan what they want to watch wherever they are, using their iPhone or iPod Touch.
The Freeview iPhone app gives users instant access to the Freeview programme guide, including the new high-definition (HD) channels and over 50 other Freeview channels.
Tim Hunt, marketing communications director at Freeview said: “As Freeview HD rolls-out across the UK, viewers can plan their HD viewing wherever they are with our new Freeview HD TV guide app.”
The app includes a “now and next” menu, and a “Top 10” channel list, which makes it easier for users to plan their TV schedule. They can also re-order channels, so their favourites appear first.
“The launch of this smart app will allow users to cut a quicker path to their favourite channels and get the most out of planning their TV viewing,” added Hunt.
Freeview HD is being rolled-out across the UK, following the launch of the first Freeview HD set-top box earlier this week.
Currently only the BBC HD channel is available on the app, however ITV1 HD listings will be available shortly and Channel 4 HD listings will be added when the channel becomes available on Freeview HD.
The new app will also offer the ability to filter listings by category, search by text entry, or follow viewing suggestions via Freeview’s Twitter feed. iPhone and iPod Touch users can download the app now from iTunes now for free.
