Looking for HD TV without the added costs? Sign-up for a new high-definition set-top box from Virgin Media to watch all of Virgin’s HD TV channels for no extra cost.

Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com) is launching a new HD set-top box to make its high-definition (HD) content more affordable to viewers by cutting the need to pay extra to watch super-sharp HD TV.

The new V HD Box (pictured below) will be available from 22 March to all new and existing customers on a Size M+ or above TV package, for a one-off cost of just £49 plus installation.

All high-definition channels on Virgin Media are available for free if you’re a Size XL TV subscriber. And unlike rival digital TV provider Sky, Virgin Media will not charge customers with the V HD Box any extra on-going subscription fees for access to its HD channels.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: “Our new V HD Box is ideal for anyone who wants to experience the power of HD without the extra monthly fee. We think our superb range of TV content gives our customers a real choice and makes Virgin Media the best value TV offering available.”

There are currently seven HD channels available, and Virgin Media has recently announced the addition of six new ones, and promises there will be more to come later in the year.

The cable TV giant has already revealed that HD channels from ITV1, Eurosport, Discovery, Sci Fi, E4 and Film4 will all be added to its TV service later this year, joining HD channels from the BBC, C4HD, ESPN HD, National Geographic HD, FX HD, MTV Networks HD and LIVING HD.

The new V HD Box adds to Virgin Media’s existing choice of set-top boxes. Customers can now choose from the standard V Box, for basic digital TV, the V HD Box or the V+ HD Box which incorporates high-definition TV with a digital recording feature, letting users pause, rewind and record TV.

Rose added: “If you really love telly you’ll probably want our V+HD box because then you can record programmes on up to two channels while simultaneously watching another.
