Sky is giving its satellite TV customers a quick and easy way to find the movies they want to watch, with the launch of a brand new app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The new Sky Movies app, available as a free download from iTunes, brings film fans bang up-to-date with the latest information on Sky Movies, Sky Movies Box Office and new cinema releases.
Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies, said: “We are really pleased to be able to add the Sky Movies app to our already strong offering of iPad and iPhone apps.
“Combined with the Sky+ and Sky Go apps, customers now have even more ways to discover and enjoy the films they want to watch, either at home or on the move.”
All films available on Sky Movies are given their own page, including a full review of the film and an option to remote record it on a Sky+HD box to watch later, or link to the Sky Go app to stream it live.
The Sky Movies app also offers a “pick of the day” as well as up-to-the-minute information about what’s coming to the service within the next week and month.
An Android version of the download, compatible with mobile devices using search company Google’s operating system, is scheduled for release in early 2012.
Sky recently celebrated ten years since the launch of its Sky+ digital video recording service, which now appears in more than eight million homes across the UK. That’s more households than have cats, dogs or even children, according to the satellite TV provider.
