New digital TV service adds children’s TV on-demand player and catch-up player for the northern and central Scotland ITV region

Two new services are coming to the recently launched digital TV platform YouView, which first became available last month.

We look forward to welcoming other content providers onto the YouView platform in due course

YouView has teamed up with Channel 5’s children’s programming people milkshake! to provide TV shows for 2-7-years-olds on-demand.

A dedicated player will enable YouView users to access shows such as Little Princess, Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car whenever they want.

Richard Halton, YouView’s CEO, said: “We want YouView to entertain the entire family and, with favourites such as Mr Men available on-demand, there is no doubt kids will love the latest addition to YouView. We look forward to welcoming other content providers onto the YouView platform in due course.”

YouView users in northern and central Scotland now also get STV Player, allowing them to catch-up on programmes shown by the region’s local ITV group, the UK’s major commercial public TV network.

The likes of Coronation Street, Emmerdale and The X Factor can now be watched live or caught up on through the STV Player, the search function or the YouView electronic programme guide.

“STV is one of the UK’s most popular television networks offering brilliant original content and it is great that their player is now live on YouView, giving users on-demand access to the channel,” Halton added.
