Tiscali (www.tiscali.co.uk) yesterday announced that its digital TV service Tiscali TV has rolled out across the country, making it available to almost five million homes across the UK.
For the first time, the former HomeChoice service - which offers digital TV including Sky One and a host of on-demand programming - is available outside of London and Stevenage. Customers in Central, North and North West of England as well as the M25 ring can now upgrade to Tiscali’s triple play bundles, with prices starting from only £19.99 for 2Mb broadband, digital TV and inclusive telephone line rental with free weekend calls to UK landlines and ten top international countries.
From October, locations in the North East and Scotland will be added and Mary Turner, Tiscali CEO, said: “By Christmas 2007 Tiscali TV will reach almost 10 million homes and we believe we can offer great value digital TV and the best value Triple Play service in the UK for those who don’t want to pay for expensive premium TV, but do want more than Freeview.”
To coincide with the launch, Tiscali also announced new TV packages and a £5 TV Variety Pack with over 50 digital channels including all BBC, ITV, 4 and Five channels and Paramount Comedy 1 and 2, as well as Sky’s basic channels which include the coveted Sky One. The TV Variety Pack also includes replay from the BBC and Channel 4, free on demand TV series and access to over 1000 on-demand, pay per view movies.
The new TV packages are the Entertainment Extra Mix, the Kids Mix and the Music Mix and cost £6 each. Premium channels such as Sky Sports, Sky Movies and the film channel Picture Box can also be added.
Chris Eagle, DigitalChoices.co.uk commercial manager, said: “For Tiscali customers, this triple play offer represents excellent value for money, since they won’t have to pay line rental on top of the package cost. As Tiscali TV becomes more widely available, and inevitably more popular, it will prove to be real competition for the other big triple play providers BT (www.bt.com), Sky (www.sky.com), and Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com).”
Existing Tiscali broadband customers living in TV enabled areas will be able to upgrade to the triple play bundle with a free set top box, free wireless modem and free installation. New customers will also get a free set top box, free wireless modem and pay £30 for installation.
The same package is also available with faster broadband at up to 8Mb for £24.99 a month.
