A deal has been struck between Tiscali and BSkyB that will see Sky’s basic channels, lost by Virgin Media earlier this year, shown on the broadband TV service.

Sky Movies and Sky Sports are already available to subscribers of Tiscali TV, and this will see some of Sky’s most popular channels including Sky One, Sky News and Sky Sports News added too - allowing customers access to some of their most popular programming from the US.

Shows such Lost, 24, Prison Break and The Simpsons, which were previously available to Virgin Media customers will now be available to Tiscali TV instead. Mary Turner, chief executive of Tiscali UK said: “(Tiscali TV) has more content than any other on-demand package available in the UK today.”

Chris Eagle, commercial manager at DigitalChoices.co.uk added: “This deal will give Tiscali TV and TV-over-broadband a big boost and may even tempt Virgin Media’s lamenting customers to move over to Tiscali TV in order keep up with their favourite shows.”

Tiscali customers can bundle up to 2Mb broadband, TV, free weekend calls and line rental for £19.99 a month.
