Thinking of joining Sky but don’t know if it’s for you? The satellite TV giant is offering some of its most watched programmes to Freeview and Virgin Media homes for free this weekend.

Anyone considering a subscription to Sky (www.sky.co.uk) can “try before they buy” with a weekend of free entertainment from the digital TV provider this Saturday and Sunday.

The satellite TV giant is offering Freeview and Virgin Media viewers the chance to sample some of its best TV programmes and films over 17 and 18 April, including part of the Steven Spielberg war drama, The Pacific, which tells the stories of three Marines during America’s battle with the Japanese during World War II.

There is something for all the family this weekend with the free Sky pass

Jon Ingram, operations director at Digitalchoices.co.uk, said: “This ‘free pass’ weekend offers the perfect opportunity for Freeview and Virgin Media customers to try Sky’s TV service before committing to a subscription.”

Other TV highlights over the weekend include Cutty Sark: Out of the Ashes, a Ben Fogle documentary about saving the historic ship from the scrap yard, and live Rugby Union coverage of the clash between the Saracens and the Harlequins.

All the entertainment will showcase on the Sky3 channel this weekend, and is available on channel 11 for Freeview homes and channel 123 for Virgin Media subscribers.

Ingram added: “There really is something for all the family this weekend with the free Sky pass. You can keep the kids occupied with Hannah Montana and Garfield, catch-up on the latest from Pineapple Dance Studios and watch the first episode of V - a remake of the classic 80s show.”
