Telecommunications giant BT has designed a new set top for its digital TV service, BT Vision, which it claims will help reduce customers’ energy bills.
BT Vision (www.bt.vision.co.uk) has launched a stylish new black Vision+ set-top box to match the black BT Home Hub wireless router, which it believes will use 12% less power compared to its standard Vision box.
The new box has a 160GB hard drive to record and store up to 80 hours of TV programming, and comes with a remote control with large buttons, making it ideal for the visually impaired.
Marc Watson, chief executive of BT Vision, said: “We are always looking at ways in which we can improve BT Vision. The new BT Vision+ box is not only better looking, it also consumes less energy, something that we know is extremely important to our customers.”
The new set-top box will be available free to all new BT Vision customers that sign-up online for a BT Vision Value Pack before Friday 15 January.
BT Vision’s packs are organised into the genres kids, sports, films and music and are available at three levels - bronze, silver and gold:
Jon Ingram, operations director at Digitalchoices.co.uk, said: “Households looking to switch to digital TV for less should definitely consider BT Vision. Available to all BT Total Broadband customers, it offers a range of live and on-demand content for a low-cost monthly subscription.”
