Manchester’s United and City both search for their first win in this season’s competition - the former in Romania, the latter at home against “The Yellow Submarine”
The UEFA Champions League returns on Sky Sports tonight following the two-week international break.
Manchester United, still looking for their first win in this season’s competition following two successive draws, are in action in Romania against Oțelul Galați, which will be shown on Sky Sports 4.
United will meet Oțelul, who are playing in the Champions League for the first time, in Bucharest’s 55,000-capacity National Stadium, as their 13,500-capacity home ground does not have floodlights.
United supporters will be keen to see Wayne Rooney restored to the starting line up. Following his red card for England against Montenegro, the striker was restricted to an appearance from the bench for United’s draw against fierce rivals Liverpool on Saturday.
Speaking of United’s fierce rivals, Manchester City, also playing in the Champions League for the first time, will be searching for their first ever win the competition in their home encounter against Villareal, which will be shown on Sky 3D and Sky Sports 2.
Villareal, known as “The Yellow Submarine” due to their all-yellow home kit, will provide another stiff test of City’s Champions League credentials, with the Blues having been drawn in this year’s “group of death,” which also includes Bayern Munich and Napoli.
City will be looking to Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko to provide the firepower to vanquish Villareal, with the in-form Mario Balotelli completing a three-match European ban and Carlos Tevez persona non grata after he allegedly refused to come on as a substitute in the club’s last Champions League outing against Bayern.
Tomorrow will see Chelsea take on Belgian champions Genk at Stamford Bridge on Sky Sports 2, while Arsenal travel to the south of France for a tough tie with Marseille, which will be screened on ITV 1. All fixtures kick-off at 7.45pm.
Sky customers wanting to watch the Manchester City match in 3D can activate Sky 3D by signing up to the Sky World HD package. A 3D-ready TV and 3D glasses are also required.
BT Vision, Top Up TV and Virgin Media customers can watch the City and Chelsea matches on Sky Sports by subscribing to a Sky Sports package through their provider, while Arsenal’s match on ITV 1 can be seen via Freeview.
