BT Vision (www.btvision.bt.com) is the television service provided by telecoms giant BT. As well as watching all their favourite shows on Freeview channels, customers can watch a wide variety of films and programmes on-demand.
BT Vision’s TV service is essentially whatever you want it to be, as you can pick and choose the on-demand TV programmes you want, and subscribe to the channels you like.
The Vision set-top box connects to your rooftop TV aerial so you can watch all the free-to-view digital TV channels available in your area, and when you connect the box to your BT Total Broadband home hub, you’ll be able to access a whole host of on-demand TV programmes and films, as well as subscribe to the BT Vision viewing packs.
If you’re on a budget and looking for the cheapest deal possible, you don’t have to pay a monthly subscription for your BT Vision. You can just buy the BT Vision+ box for £199 and receive the Freeview channels, then pay extra for anything else you might watch when you watch it.
Alternatively, you can choose to subscribe to a BT “Value Pack”, and this might save you money in the long run. These are:

These “Value Packs” aren’t made of TV channels as such, they are categories of on-demand features. You can search through an A-Z list of films, music videos or programmes, select one and watch it. BT Vision's catalogue of on-demand programmes has everything, from kids TV, to Hollywood blockbusters, Asian TV and even adult TV.
If you’re not currently subscribed to the category it falls under, the cost of your selection will appear on your next BT Vision bill as an extra. Prices start from just 39p.
BT Vision also now offers the cheapest way to watch all the action of the Premier League.
You can add either Sky Sports 1 or 2 to your BT Vision service individually for just £6.99 a month, or pay £11.99 a month for the “total sports pack”, which offers Sky Sports 1 and 2, as well as ESPN and a range of on-demand sports programmes.
Remember, if you want to watch every Premier League match, you will need a subscription to ESPN, as 23 of the live games will be shown on ESPN, with the rest being shown on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2.
The Vision+ box from BT costs £15 when you subscribe to a BT Vision Value pack for 12 months. Alternatively, you can pay £199 for the Vision+ box without taking out a monthly subscription to a viewing pack. You can then simply “pay-per-view” for any of the on-demand programmes you watch.
The Vision+ box lets you:
If you’re looking for a good deal on digital TV, there are plenty of options. As well as BT Vision, you should shop around and consider Freeview, Freesat, satellite TV and cable. Use the Digitalchoices.co.uk comparison service to find out more.
